Moving inland from the coast, one finds incredible national parks and some captivating lakes, along with historic sites that have enchanted visitors for years. Here one finds the National Park of Durmitor, home to Europe’s deepest canyon, the Tara Canyon, (the second largest in the world, after the Colorado River canyon) where the Tara River provides waterfalls and fantastic waters for white water rafting adventures. Another national park, known as Montenegro’s oldest, Biogradska Gora, between the rivers Tara and Lim, is full of streams and green pastures as well as hidden glacial lakes.

Other sites of Montenegro worth visiting are the bays of Boka Kotorska, one of the most intriguing bays of the world, composed of four connected straits, surrounded by high cliffs on all sides, seven islands and some absolutely charming nearby towns along the road to the bay. Along one of these straits, the Bay of Kotor, one finds a lovely town, cradled by the sea, resting against a craggy cliff. This is Kotor, a living time capsule of an unspoiled Adriatic town. The city walls are striking and the Old Town's ambiance is inviting and enjoyable, with unique architectural styles and enchanting narrow streets. The unbelievable Ostrog Monastery is yet another spot that is a wonderful creation to behold; carved into the rocks above the valley of Bjelopavlici, the Ostrag monastery is one of the most visited shrines of the Christian world. 

There are truly few places places in the world left that have such fine beaches and astounding scenery as those of Montenegro; this is truly a secret worth exploring soon, while so much of the wonder of this incredible country lies undiscovered.
