Sicily, the largest island of the Mediterranean, is a land of natural allure, exotic architecture, and modern-day charm. Sicily finds itself as the crux of three seas: the Sicilian Sea, the Tyrrhenian Sea, and the Ionian Sea.
The island of Sicily has much to offer. Its cities and towns provide an endless supply of activities, while the island’s heartland, known as the Sicilian Alps provide an opportunity for exploration of Sicily’s natural wonder, especially the viewing of the Sicily's looming landmark, Mt. Etna. The Parco Naturale Regionale delle Madonie is a lovely place to enjoy the seclusion and tranquility of this rich destination. Lovely beaches abound here: the Vendicari reserve, south of Noto is a great destination for a swim, embellished with Roman Ruins and a Swabian castle.

Sicily visitors will quickly become immersed in the cities of Syracuse, Taormina, Ragusa, Palermo and many more. The ruins found in Sicily are considered to be some of the greatest in the world. Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples has been called by Pindar to have been “the most beautiful city built by mortal men.” Taormina, one of the Sicily’s more luxury-oriented towns is a great spot to grab a granita, (or ice slushy made of fresh fruit purees among other delectable flavors) while taking in the sights.
Since we have broached the topic of food, a must see destination within Sicily is Palermo’s Vucciria, a large market comprised of many streets where local merchants and fisherman come to sell their wares. Here the tradition of abbanniata, or calling out ones wares so all can hear is audibly prevalent. Everything imaginable is sold at Vucciria from pastas, to incredibly fresh fruits, to the most divine seafood - freshly plucked from the sea nearby.
So much more awaits you in Sicily; this is merely a taste of what this undeniably unique, sensory-tantalizing, relaxation-inducing, fun loving atmosphere has in store for you.
